Grace is a Media Artist based in the UK. She has developed her varied skill set in analogue photography, film and animation but predominantly in the medium of sound. Grace’s work focuses on the development of concepts through creative experimentation and ‘playing’ with equipment and ideas. She has progressively becoming more drawn to sound; it’s relationship alongside other mediums and how it can be manipulated to suggest a narrative.
‘Ted Talks’ tells the story of Great Uncle Ted.
Ted’s infectious charisma is irrefutable in this piece. His life has been filled with exciting experiences, every conversation he has includes an abundance of anecdotes. The stories he tells, along with some relevant experimental sounds generate an abstract soundscape. This piece challenges the conventional techniques
of sound documentary. It is an example of storytelling through audible texture and manipulated dialogue, relaying a narrative without necessarily ‘telling the story’.
